Kingsbarn Golf Links Scotland

Kingsbarns Golf Links is a popular Scottish golf course located near St Andrews in Fife. Kingsbarns joined the famous old courses of neighbouring St Andrews and Carnoustie, bringing with it a new dimension to the classic Scottish game. It is the only Scottish course to be built on links property in more than 70 years! The scenery in Kingsbarns is breathtaking. Continuous upgrades have allowed the course to maintain its top-20 position as one of the best courses in the UK.

A Brief History of Kingsbarn Golf Links

Since 1793, golfers have enjoyed playing on the links at Kingsbarns. The Kingsbarns men gathered for their Spring and Autumn Meetings while wearing their blue jackets to compete for the Societies medals on the links and to enjoy the company of friends over dinner in the Golfers Hall. The Society continued to meet for many years until the tenant farmer of the Cambo Estate ploughed up the Links in 1850 to increase his farmable land.

The original Kingsbarns Golfing Society was revived in 1922 and founded as the Kingsbarns Golf Club. Willie Auchterlonie designed a nine-hole course on the links near Kingsbarns Bay. Up until the start of the Second World War, this course catered to the golfing demands of both locals and tourists. However, the Links was mined as part of the national security defence effort, and it swiftly deteriorated to rough pasture.

The newly created Kingsbarns Golf Links was initially playable in 2001. It became clear quickly that Kyle Phillips and Mark Parsinen had designed one of the top golf courses worldwide.

Course Design at Kingsbarn Golf Links

The course at Kingsbarns Golf Links is a challenging par-72, measuring 7,227 yards from the back tees. Not only does the course have a fascinating selection of tough par 4's and reachable par 5's it also includes picturesque par 3's. In addition to the wonderful golf, players can enjoy stunning views of the North Sea on almost every hole. There are some particularly notable holes on the course.
