A Brief History of Turnhouse Golf Club

Turnhouse Golf Club was founded in 1897, making it one of the oldest clubs in the Edinburgh area. The great Willie Park Jr., a two-time Open Championship champion and one of the most renowned golf course designers of all time, was responsible for the layout of the course. Many notable competitions, including the Scottish Professional Championship and the Scottish Amateur Championship, have been held at Turnhouse over the years.

Course Design at Turnhouse Golf Club

The course at Turnhouse Golf Club is a true test of golfing ability. Measuring just over 6,000 yards (Par 69) from the back tees, it may not be the longest course around, but what it lacks in length it makes up for in the strategic design. The course itself has two loops of 9 holes starting and finishing in front of the clubhouse. With tight fairways, small greens, and a number of well-placed hazards, Turnhouse will challenge every aspect of your game. The signature hole is the par-3 9th, which requires a tee shot over a pond to a small green that slopes from back to front
