A Brief History of Dunbar Golf Club

Dunbar Golf Club was founded in 1856 and was originally designed by Old Tom Morris. Since then, it has been updated and improved over the years by several renowned golf architects including James Braid and Ben Sayers. The club has also hosted numerous high-profile tournaments including the Scottish PGA Championship and the Open Championship Regional Qualifying. Recently, players like Vijay Singh, Steve Elkington (an honorary member), Colin Montgomerie, Paul McGinley, Luke Donald, and Sergio Garcia have participated in championships, qualifying rounds, and exhibition matches here.

Course Design at Dunbar Golf Club

The course at Dunbar Golf Club is a traditional links-style course with undulating fairways and greens, strategically placed bunkers, and a variety of natural hazards. It plays at a challenging length of 6,597 yards with a par of 71 and is known for its spectacular views of the coastline and surrounding countryside. This course hugs the beautiful shores of the Firth of Forth. It's undulating fairways and subtle greens demand all types of shot-making, regardless of your standard of golf.

Facilities and Amenities at Dunbar Golf Club

At Dunbar they offer a range of excellent facilities to enhance your golfing experience. The clubhouse has recently undergone extensive refurbishment, providing golfers with a modern and comfortable space to relax and enjoy a drink or meal after their round. The club also offers a well-stocked pro shop.

Prior to their tee time, everyone is welcome to use their practice facilities for free.

Next to the clubhouse and the first tee is a practice putting green. 180-yard short driving range, practise nets and the short game area nearby the clubhouse (please note that they do not provide golf balls).

As well as golfing facilities, Dunbar Golf Club offers a range of amenities for its members and guests. These include locker rooms, showers, and changing facilities, as well as free Wi-Fi throughout the clubhouse.

Dunbar Golf Club offers a range of membership options to suit all golfers, from full membership to junior membership. Visitors are also welcome for a round of golf, and discounts are available for groups of four or more.

Where is Dunbar Golf Club?

Dunbar Golf Club is located about 30 miles east of Edinburgh on the east coast of Scotland, close off the A1. The club is easily accessible by vehicle and has lots of on-site parking. The closest train station for people taking the train is Dunbar, which is only a short cab ride from the club.
