It enjoys a prime location, just a short drive from St. Andrews, making it easily accessible for golfers from near and far. The golf course at Lundin Links is renowned for its exceptional design and natural beauty. It is a traditional links course that offers a challenging yet enjoyable experience for golfers of all skill levels. With undulating fairways, strategically placed bunkers, and breathtaking sea views, this course truly captures the essence of Scottish links golf. This hidden gem of a course also plays host to Open Qualifying when the event is held at St Andrews.

A Brief History of Lundin Links Golf Club, St andrews

Founded in 1860 when course designer Tom Morris laid out the traditional 18-hole layout. It would appear that the Club struggled to establish itself and that it ceased to exist nine years after it was founded.

Lundin Golf Club was revived in 1889, and a Joint Links Committee composed of members of the Leven Thistle and Lundin Clubs oversaw the course. The clubs would split the course, each beginning at the opposite ends, but as golf became more and more popular in the area, this arrangement couldn't last forever.

It was divided in two after extra land was bought. Nine holes on the current links and nine holes on land once owned by the Lundin Ladies Golf Club made up the new course. This was finished in 1909 by the renowned James Braid and has hardly changed since then.

The course offers many problems to the budding golfer such as blind shots, burns & Out of Bounds. Furthermore, many tricky bunkers and some tough winds from the Firth of Forth also present a challenge. At a smidge over 6’300 yds, this Par 71 is a huge test for any golfer. If you can play this course, the iconic 14th hole is a Par 3 from an elevated tee and boasts some breathtaking views. So much so James Braid called the hole ‘Breathtaking”.
