A Brief History of Deeside Golf Club

Deeside Golf Club has a rich history dating back to 1903 when a group of golf enthusiasts founded the course on a site near Banchory. Originally only 9 holes, the course was quickly expanded into 18 holes later that year. In 1994 Robin Hiseman added an additional 9-hole course called The Blairs and tweaked the existing course. Today the Houghton Course is considered to be one of the best inland courses in Scotland.

Course Design at Deeside Golf Club

The 6,385-yard Houghton Course in Deeside has a par of 70 and is set on beautiful parkland. It meanders its way through huge mature trees and strategically placed bunkers before making it into snooker table-like putting surfaces. Golfers will be using their biggest swings on two enormous par-5 holes while scoring on the precise par-4s and par-3s will demand good course management and pinpoint accuracy.
