Kilspindie Golf Club

Kilspindie Golf Club Scotland

Kilspindie Golf Club lies on the nature reserve of Aberlady Bay between Craigielaw Golf Club and the Firth of Forth on Scotland’s Golf Coast. Classed as one of Scotland’s hidden gems, this short, quirky course is protected by narrowly defined fairways, pot bunkers and deceptive greens that can catch even the best ball strikers out. During a round, you may witness some of the Scottish wildlife including sea-birds, migratory geese, and seals sunning on the sand. In the distance, you can also see the profile of Edinburgh, its Castle, and Arthur’s Seat. Kilspindie is a real joy to play for any golfer.

A Brief History of Kilspindie Golf Club

Kilspindie Golf Club was founded in 1867, making it one of the oldest golf courses in Scotland. Originally a nine-hole course, it was expanded to 18 holes in 1894, and its layout has remained relatively unchanged since then. The course has hosted several notable tournaments over the years, including the British Ladies Amateur Championship and the Scottish Amateur Championship.

Course Design at Kilspindie Golf Club

Kilspindie Golf Club offers a traditional links course design, with rolling fairways, deep pot bunkers, and challenging greens. The course measures 5,484 yards from the back tees and has a par of 69. The opening hole is a par-3 that requires a precise tee shot over a burn to a small green. The course then winds through dunes and along the coastline, with several holes offering spectacular views of the Firth of Forth. The closing hole is a par-4 that requires a well-placed tee shot to avoid the bunkers and a precise approach shot to a small green.
